Venezuelan Summer League Playoffs: Rays 6, Pirates 7

VSL RaysThe VSL Rays lost game one of the Venezuelan Summer League playoffs to the VSL Pirates by a score of 7-6. The Rays backs are against the wall as the VSL playoffs consist of a best-of-three series between the regular season champion (the Pirates) and the runner-up (the Rays, by 6.5 games).

The Good: Offense. Shortstop Hector Guevara was 2-4 (double, homer) with 3 RBI and a run scored. Rightfielder Jonathan Quinonez went 3-4 (single, double, homer) with 2 RBI and a run scored. Second baseman Jose Colmenares was 1-4 (double) with 2 runs scored (he was also hit by a pitch).

The Bad: Defense and Pitching. The Rays committed four errors: catcher Omar Narvaez 2 (both throwing), 2B Jose Colmenares (fielding), and SS Hector Guevara (throwing).
