Minor Moves: Perez, Bradford, Cobb, Castro

Angel CastroOutfielder Fernando Perez has been assigned to the Charlotte Stone Crabs from the GCL Rays as part of his major league rehab assignment. He is on the Rays' 60-day DL and will have to be added to the 40-man roster when the rehab assignment is completed.

RHRP Chad Bradford has been assigned to the Charlotte Stone Crabs on a major league rehab assignment. He is on the Rays's 15-day DL and remains on the 40-man roster.

The Charlotte Stone Crabs have placed RHSP Alexander Cobb on the 7-day disabled list.

The Charlotte Stone Crabs have signed free agent RHRP Angel Castro. The 26 year-old was 2-1 with a 7.00 ERA in 14 relief appearances this season for the Reading Phillies in the AA Eastern League. In 18.0 innings he struck out 10 and walked 12 while allowing opposing batters a .342 average. He was originally drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 13th round of the 2006 draft out of Western Oklahoma State.

  1. Ugh, bummer about Cobb. Anyone know what he's on the shelf with? I know he had some blister problems earlier this year.

  2. Maybe Jim or Nick know more, but his last outing he left with blisters on the throwing hand, if I remember correctly. If that's all it is, count me happy.

  3. From Jim's writeup of Tuesday nights game: 'Alex Cobb got the start but saw his night end early after recurring blisters forced him to the bench.'

    Hope that's all it is.

  4. He has been sidelined due to blisters on his throwing hand that has plagued him the last few starts. They put him on the 7-Day DL retro to 8/5.
