The Stone Crabs cut the lead in half in the sixth inning. Omar Luna reached on a fielder’s choice then advanced to second an a single by Emeel Salem. Then Luna advanced to third on an errant throw on the pickoff attempt, giving the Stone Crabs runners on the corners. Drew Anderson followed with a ground ball to short that scored Luna and moved the Stone Crabs to within a run of the lead. The Stone Crabs were unable to push across another run and took the loss 2-1.
Despite being charged with the loss, Jeremy Hall had another strong outing. Hall allowed 2 runs on 5 hits with 5 strikeouts in the complete game. After the first inning, Hall only allowed 2 additional hits and had a run of 10 batters in a row retired between the second and fifth innings. Arquimedes Nieto was the winning pitcher for Palm Beach.
What Went Right: Jeremy Hall; complete game, 5 strikeouts and 2 runs on 5 hits.
What Went Wrong: Offensive Production; only 3 hits in the game and went 0-4 with runners in scoring position.
A Look Ahead: The Stone Crabs and Cardinals match up again on Saturday night at Roger Dean Stadium. Alex Cobb (6-5) returns from the DL to pitch against Richard Castillo (5-11).
