Tuesday's Scores and Highlights

Charlotte Knights 2, Durham Bulls 5
Chris Richard was 2 for 4 with a double and a three run homer. Fernando Perez also drove home a run. Brian Baker was the winning pitcher, throwing 5 shut-out innings with 4 strikeouts. Jake McGee pitched 2 scoreless frames with 3 strikeouts. Winston Abreu secured his 23rd save of the season. The Bulls wrap up the series against Charlotte on Wednesday with Bobby Livingston making the start.

Huntsville Stars 2, Montgomery Biscuits 3
Biscuits winning streak extends to 5 games. Matt Fields was 2 for 3 with a run scored. Emeel Salem was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI's. Henry Wrigley had a double and drove home a run. Alex Cobb struck out 5 enroute to the victory. Matt Gorgen picked up the save. The Biscuits continue the series with Huntsville on Wednesday, Josh Satow is the probable starter.

Charlotte Stone Crabs 3, Jupiter Hammerheads 2 (Game One)
Matt Moore had 11 strikeouts in the game, breaking the FSL record. Stephen Vogt was 2 for 3 with an RBI. Reid Fronk drove home the other two runs. Tim Beckham had the only extra base hit with a double. Moore earned the win and Zach Quate the recorded the save.

Charlotte Stone Crabs 3, Jupiter Hammerheads 1 (Game Two)
Michael Sheridan was 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored. Greg Sexton was 2 for 4 with an RBI. Jake Jefferies was 2 for 4. Kyeong Kang also picked up an RBI. Jake Thompson made his Stone Crabs debut, pitching 5 shut-out innings with 3 strikeouts, only giving up 1 hit and earned the win. Deivis Mavarez recorded the final 2 outs to get the save. Joe Cruz takes the hill in Wednesday's game against Jupiter.

Fort Wayne Tin Caps 13, Bowling Green Hot Rods 9
Julio Cedeno was 3 for 4 with an RBI. Ty Morrison was 2 for 3 with a triple, RBI and a run scored. Burt Reynolds delivered a grand slam in the eighth inning. Yorman Mayora suffered the loss. The Hot Rods travel to play Dayton on Wednesday.

Staten Island Yankees 5, Hudson Valley Renegades 2 (Game One)
Renegades managed just two hits in the game. Nick Schwaner had a two run homer. Derek Dietrich had the other base hit. Hunter Hill pitched a no-hit inning. Wilmer Almonte suffered the loss.

Staten Island Yankees 0, Hudson Valley Renegades 3 (Game Two)
Brian Bryles was 2 for 3 with a triple and an RBI. Chris Winder also had a triple and an RBI. Devin Fuller and Austin Hubbard combined for a complete game shut-out. Fuller pitched 6 innings for the win and Hubbard struck out 2 in an inning pitched to earn the save. The Renegades face Staten Island again on Wednesday.

Princeton Rays 10, Bluefield Orioles 4 (Game One)
Scott Lawson was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 RBI's and 2 runs scored. Todd Glaesmann was 3 for 4 with a double, RBI and 3 runs scored. Kyle Holloway was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI. Jeff Malm had a solo home run. Matt Gilson pitched a no-hit inning, striking out 2 of 3 hitters faced. Justin Hall was the winning pitcher.

Princeton Rays 5, Bluefield Orioles 0 (Game Two)
The P-Rays won the Mercer Cup for the second consecutive year, Kevin Kiermaier was 2 for 4 with 3 RBI's. Felix Gonzalez had an RBI. Victor Mateo pitched 5 shut-out innings with 2 hits and 6 strikeouts. Jake Partridge followed with 2 no-hit innings and 4 strikeouts. The P-Rays have concluded their 2010 season.

GCL Rays 4, GCL Phillies 1
The GCL Rays took a 1-0 lead in the Championship Series. Luke Bailey was 2 for 2 with a solo home run and 3 RBI's. Craige Lyerly was 2 for 4. Joel Caminero was 2 for 4 with a double. Alex Diaz had an RBI. Eduar Quinonez pitched 4 1/3 innings and allowed a run on 3 hits with 2 strikeouts. Matt Spann was the winning pitcher, pitching 4 2/3 shut-out innings. The best of three championship series moves to Port Charlotte on Wednesday.

  1. Good to see Bailey and Malm with home runs. Those guys with this year's draft will hopefully make the future very bright for the Rays. These guys will all need to be ready when Evan and Zobrist's contracts expire.
