Richard Named International League Player of the Week

Chris Richard photo by Jim DontenChris Richard was named the International League's Player of the Week for the week ending September 6. Richard was 9 for 26 on the week with a double, triple, 3 home runs and 11 RBI's. He is hitting .300/.535/.390 with 39 doubles, a triple, 20 home runs and 79 RBI's in 117 games this season.

Richard was signed by the Rays organization in November of 2007 as a free agent. He was originally drafted by the Cardinals in the 19th round of the 1995 Draft. This is his third career player of the week honor in the International League, winning the award in 2008 and 2009.

  1. I guess congratulations are in order, but is Richard someone we should be discussing on a prospects site? I don't know whether to cheer or cry when I see a 36 year-old is getting AB's instead of younger guys who might actually have a future in the organization.
