Prospect Poll: #1 Pitcher

While we're working on our Rays Top Prospects lists, separate ones for batters and pitchers, I thought it would be interesting to see what our readers' lists would look like. We'll start with pitchers, with candidates listed alphabetically. As the poll winner becomes obvious, I'll take it down and put up a new one with another player added in the winner's place. The previous winners list will appear in each new post. Not sure how much interest there is in this, can we make it to a Top 20? Feel free to add Comments supporting your pick (that's why I didn't put this on the sidebar).

  1. This was a pretty easy one and the votes are about as expected: Price with 72% so far, should rise. I'll leave it up until lunch time Wednesday so our overseas readers get a chance to participate. #2 is probably a forgone conclusion too, but starting with #'s 3 and 4 this should get interesting. When I post #2 tomorrow I'll include links to minor league stat sites in case you want to support your choice with tERA or something.

And yes, apparently CNN is saying Will Kline will lose this race. Really, Will Kline? Maybe I should tighten up the requirements to vote if this continues.

  3. I would like to hear the reason why someone voted for Talbot and "other".

  4. Talbot's at least seen St. Pete, so... whatever. The Will Kline was probably just a jk or something. So far the voting has been reasonable so I won't limit it. I'm kind of glad we had Price up first so I could see if people would take it seriously or not. So far, other than Kline, you could make a reasonable argument for any of the votes, depends how you view potential vs. close to MLB. Thanks for the participation.

  5. Oh, and I forgot to add, assuming Price prevails with our latenight and overseas friends, who should I add? I've got a list 150 long of my own, but I'd really appreciate input since whoever we add probably will end up in the teens. Lobstein? Reid? Darcy? Bencomo? Yendis? Mason? You know I'm going Garcia or Hinkle. :)

  6. Tyree Haynes is someone who I consider very underrated. You know more about them than I do so I'd say go with who ever you'd like.

  7. Hayes is another good choice for the teens, thanks Danny. I hate to go too deep into the rookie leagues because few people even know who they are, the players are so far away, and I don't know how you folks feel about potential vs. big-league-ready. This will really come in to play with the hitters (Brignac vs Beckham for example). There's no right or wrong answer obviously, but I hope if you make the nominations 10 or so picks ahead, we can all keep the right guys on the poll, however the voting goes.
