  2. Excellent approach for a prospect his age. Very encouraging power numbers. Can't wait to see how he does in the GCL next year!

  3. Regarding Bulls Game #2: RHP Chris Bootcheck exercised his opt out contract and is leaving the team. Room for another prospect? Probably not. Have had Buente on the DL for a week or two. Rant over on my blog.

  4. With June in the books, I did a quick swing through the stats and splits of the full-season MiL teams, looking for "Position Player of the Month" candidates. For players that appeared in 20+ games, here are mine (Level/BA/OPS): Guyer (AAA/.320/.846), Vogt (AA/.310/.789), Kang (AA/.286/.938), Lee (A+/.315/.826), Sheridan (A+/.346/.809), Wunderlich (A/.326/.907) and Kiermaier (A/.308/.819). My top 3, in order, are: Wunderlich, Sheridan and Guyer, with a special "Most Improved Player" for Sheridan. He raised his BA 137 points from what it was in May, and his OPS 174 points. Wow! Thoughts from the community please.

  5. Maybe we should start a daily Oscar Watch, I check the VSL for his line every day too.

Thanks Chris. For those who don't know, Chris writes Watching Durham Bulls Baseball. You can follow all his stories with the link feed at the bottom of every page here. His 'rant' on Bootcheck is here.

Excellent PotM candidates, glad you included Kang and Sheridan, and Kiermaier has been much better in June too. Another is Hector Guevara, .347/.385/.510 with the hitting streak, but he only played 13 games after missing almost 2 weeks with the shoulder. If we limit it to full-season players, Wunderlich is fine. But if we include everyone, it's gotta be Oscar: .388/.475/.767 with 10 HRs and 13 walks to 14 strikeouts. Complete stats.

  6. Good to see Malm finally hitting for extra bases. Maybe he finally becomes a legitimate prospect.

  7. I wouldn't be 100% sure Hernandez will be stateside next season. Most of the DSL/VSL guys we have seen brought over are 2-3 years older or me than he is. His stats indicate he is ready but they may be hesitant bringing him over depending on his maturity level, he is just 17.

  8. Well they brought up Guevara from the VSL after he had a good season there. He was only like 18 or 19.
