Scores and Highlights from 7/4

Gwinnett Braves 11, Durham Bulls 3
Desmond Jennings and Dan Johnson each went 2-4. Dirk Hayhurst allowed five runs on 11 hits in 5.2 innings, and Mike Ekstrom allowed six runs on eight hits in 1.2. Jose Lobaton was 1-3 with a double and a walk.

Montgomery Biscuits 10, Tennessee Smokies 1
Jim Paduch struck out nine and walked one over 7 two-hit shutout innings. Cole Figueroa picked up three hits while Stephen Vogt, Nevin Ashley, Henry Wrigley, and John Matulia had two each. Figueroa and Matulia each drove in three.

Jupiter Hammerheads 4, Charlotte Stone Crabs 1
Alex Koronis struck out six and walked three while allowing two runs in 5 innings. Kirby Yates made his Stone Crabs debut and tossed 1.1 scoreless with a hit, a walk, and a strikeout. Hak-Ju Lee's third home run of the year accounted for Charlotte's only run.

Great Lakes Loons 8, Bowling Green Hot Rods 6
Nick Schwaner was 4-5 with a home run and Steve Tinoco picked up two hits. Omar Bencomo got the loss though two of the three runs he allowed in relief were unearned.

Hudson Valley Renegades 6, Aberdeen Ironbirds 0
Jason McEachern pitched 6 shutout innings, allowing two hits while striking out five and not issuing a walk. Charlie Cononie got the three-inning save. Jeff Malm was 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. Matt Rice also homered. Juniel Querecuto was 2-5.

Princeton Rays 5, Bluefield Blue Jays 4
Drew Vettleson hit his first professional home run. Jake DePew went 2-4, and Joel Caminero had three hits.

  1. How much longer are they gonna keep McEachern in Hudson Valley? He needs to go to port charlotte ASAP.

  2. No~we want to keep him!!! lol. Hey, whatever's best for him, although I really don't think he should bypass Bowling Green.

  3. They want to keep him away from bowling greens pitching coach who tried to change his arm angle last year, so they will prolly keep him in hv till they think hes ready for port charlotte.
