  1. Any idea on how serious Thompson's injury is?

  2. Last night they said he'd be examined further and is day-to-day at this point. Doubt we'll hear much any time soon.

Rough start of the year for Rays pitching prospects overall. A few bright spots but lots on the DL or struggling.

  3. Saw a few innings of the XST games yesterday, and came away a little impressed by a couple young (19-19) LHP. Brandon Henderson & Matt Spann both threw some quality innings, it was a crazy windy day so line drives were handled much more easily than popups & fly balls, several of which dorpped and one carried out on the adjoining fields.

Drew Vettleson was hit in the helmet with a pitch, it did not look serious and he wanted to stay in but was wisely removed from the game as a precaution.

  4. I like Matt Spann. Any idea how hard he is throwing? If he could bump his velocity up, he could have a really nice future.

  5. I don't know the speed Matt is at right now, but he does get some decent movement, which is "normal" for a LHP. His continued frame development will have a great deal to do with building his speed, he looks to have built up strength in his legs so seems to be on the right track.

  6. Yeah, I really like focusing on projectable highschool guys in the later picks, Jim. You never know how they can turn out. I hear that kid Shields is doin pretty good.
