Scores and Highlights from 7/7

Durham Bulls 5, Norfolk Tides 4
Desmond Jennings, Robinson Chirinos, and Russ Canzler each hit home runs. For Chirinos, it's third game in a row with a dinger. Leslie Anderson went 3-4. Alex Cobb allowed three runs in the first but rebounded to go 6 innings, allow four runs on six hits, walk two and strike out nine. Jay Buente got the win and Dane De La Rosa the save.

Montgomery Biscuits 4, Tennessee Smokies 2
Chris Archer pitched 7 scoreless innings, allowing four hits and three walks while striking out six. The Biscuits had three hits: Two by Stephen Vogt, including a double, and a home run by John Matulia.


Charlotte Stone Crabs 2, Jupiter Hammerheads 1 (7 innings)
Alex Colome went the abbreviated distance, striking out seven and walking two while allowing one run on three hits. Tyler Bortnick drew three walks while Omar Luna had two hits and Jake Jefferies one, the only three hits the Crabs picked up. Bortnick also stole two bases.

Charlotte Stone Crabs 6, Jupiter Hammerheads 0 (Suspended, 2nd inning)
Hak-Ju Lee, Brett Nommensen, Mark Thomas, Tyler Bortnick, Mayo Acosta and Omar Luna each had one hit before the game was suspended with two hits and the Stone Crabs hitting in the second. Kyle Lobstein was pitching for Charlotte and threw two scoreless innings.

Bowling Green Hot Rods rained out




Hudson Valley Renegades 2, Tri-City ValleyCats 1 (10 innings)
Hudson Valley won it on a wild pitch scoring Chris Winder in the 10th. Winder had two of the 'Gades four hits, with Matt Rice and Gerardo Oliveras notching the other two. Jeff Malm reached base three times on two walks and a hit by pitch. Parker Markel pitched five scoreless innings, and Mickey Jannis took care of the final five.

Burlington Royals 14, Princeton Rays 6
Justin O'Conner hit a home run and Josh Sale was 2-3 with a double, triple, and a walk. Taylor Motter had two hits including a double and Ryan Terry was 3-4. Ian Kendall allowed three runs in as many innings, Marcus Jensen allowed four in three innings, and Pedro Silvestre allowed the remaining seven, though only three were earned.

GCL Rays rained out

  1. Oscar Hernandez went 4-4 with 2 HRs and 5 RBIs.He now has 17 HRs 47 RBIs in 161 ABs and is hitting .416!!!!

  2. Interestingly, BA rated Hak-Ju Lee as #22 on the midseason prospect list...

    Didn't expect to see him so high, although did expect him to be in the top 50. Obviously scouts are saying good things.

    Chris Archer dropped out of the top 50 however, Jennings at #20 and Moore at #3 rated as a 'tier 1' prospect. Of which there are currently 5. Not bad to be in a club with Trout and Harper.
