Scores and Highlights from 7/5

Durham Bulls 3, Gwinnett Braves 1
Desmond Jennings, Robinson Chirinos, and Leslie Anderson each hit solo home runs. Alex Torres got the win, pitching a 5.1 inning complete game thanks to the rain that came. He struck out three and walked three.

Tennessee Smokies 2, Montgomery Biscuits 1 (10 innings)
Stephen Vogt, Henry Wrigley, Nevin Ashley, and Kyeong Kang had the only four Biscuits hits. Wrigley tripled, drove in the only run, and walked three times. Shane Dyer allowed one run over 7 innings. Zach Quate allowed the winning run in his second inning of work. He struck out four in two innings.

Charlotte Stone Crabs 5, Jupiter Hammerheads 3
Mark Thomas went 3-3 with a home run and four RBIs, and also drew a walk. Tyler Bortnick had a hit and two walks and scored three runs. Brett Nommensen had two hits. Jake Thompson pitched 6.1 shutout innings, though he only struck out one and walked two.

Bowling Green Hot Rods 5, Great Lakes Loons 3
Derek Dietrich went 2-4 with both hits being home runs. He drove in four. Cody Rogers had two hits and the other Hot Rods starters each had one hit. Eliazer Suero got the win, striking out five and walking one over 5 innings.

Hudson Valley Renegades 8, Aberdeen Ironbirds 5
Kyle Holloway went 2-4 with a grand slam. Jeff Malm was 2-3 with two walks. Jacob Partridge allowed two runs in 4 innings, striking out two and walking two. Justin Woodall pitched 2.1 scoreless relief innings.

Princeton Rays 10, Burlington Royals 8
Cameron Seitzer went 3-4 with a home run and four RBIs. Taylor Motter also picked up three hits. Ryan Brett went 2-6, Jake DePew had a hit and three walks, and Josh Sale had a hit and a walk. Reinaldo Lopez got the win with five relief innings.

  2. Speaking of Raymond Church~ I just looked at Rays Depth Chart- noticed that Diogenes Luis is listed as starting 2B. Draft Pick Raymond Church is the 2B starter.

  3. Jupiter's 20 year starter Chad James is 0-12 with a 3.54 ERA. Wow!
