Rays Acquire Cody Strait

Stacy Long:
Cody Strait, an outfielder with Double-A Northwest Arkansas in the Kansas City organization, has been traded to the Rays for cash considerations and will report to Montgomery, the Royals announced today.

Strait was the Reds' 12th round selection out of Evansville in 2004. He was hitting .278/.340/.391 with Northwest Arkansas and has a career .256/.321/.422 line. He's not a prospect(he's 26 years old), but Montgomery was short on outfielders and Strait will almost definitely hit better than recently-released Joe Gaetti.

  1. I saw Cody play in Sarasota. I really liked his style, solid defensive player with good contribution at the plate as well. One of my favorite players for the Reds organization that came through Sarasota.
