Jeremy Hellickson pitched six shutout innings, as Durham won 6-2 at Scranton in game one of a doubleheader on Thursday.
Hellickson pitched out of a jam in the first, but then didn't allow a runner past first in the next five innings, improving to 2-0 at the Triple-A level, with wins in his first two starts.
Durham got all it needed in the third. Reid Brignac delivered a two-run double with the bases loaded against Ivan Nova (1-2) and Matt Joyce added a sac fly.
Brignac had two hits, as did Ray Olmedo, who hit his sixth homer. Durham (60-45) plays game two shortly against Scranton (56-45). Matt DeSalvo (0-3) starts against Romulo Sanchez (3-2).
