Beckham Suspended 50 Games

The Associated Press is reporting that Tim Beckham has been suspended for violating the MLB drug program. This is Beckham's second offense under the program and will be serving a 50 game suspension. Beckham who was the Rays first round draft pick in 2008 was on the Bulls disabled list prior to the suspension.

  1. From bust to busted. If he was playing better and not injured we could "Houser" him, but may as well let him sit until June 22nd.

Mentioned on twitter earlier, Jose Lopez was DFAd by the Indians today, MIF who hits right-handed. Need some RH bats, only O'Malley (switch) and Albernaz in Durham now.

  2. When He comes back it should be at another position. Hak-Ju Lee will pass Him at shortstop.

  3. Too bad about Beckham, I dislike tossing the "B" word around since he is still young though.

And depending on what happens with the replacing Longo scenario it would seem that Lopez and/or Luke Hughes would be options. Hughes DFA when the A's grabbed Inge and is a corner IF.

Headed over to see Matsui make his XST debut this afternoon...
