Minor Moves: Sale, Torres

The Bowling Green Hot Rods have announced that OF Josh Sale has been promoted to the Hot Rods out of Extended Spring Training. This will be Sale's first stint in full-season ball after being drafted by the Rays in the first round of the 2010 draft. Sale spent his first professional season with Princeton in 2011 where he hit .210 in 60 games with the P-Rays.

To make room for Sale, C Alejandro Torres was sent to Extended Spring Training. Torres played four games this season and was just 1 for 13 on the season.

  1. Sale was 1-2 (infield single and strikeout) with a walk. He was batting 7th and the Hot Rods only had 4 hits, so that's why only 3 plate appearances. Well, that and they didn't bat in the 9th since they were winning at home. Anyway, nice debut.

Torres may be back on the active roster soon. The other Alejandro, Segovia, was hit on the hand by a pitch late in the game. Micheal Compton said he appeared to be in serious pain. Matt Rice came in to run for him.

If Segovia's put on the DL with the hand injury (nothing official, just saying IF) he' be the third catcher in the org out with hand injury (Ashley and Bailey both have broken hands) and the 5th catcher currently on the DL (those 3 plus Lobaton & Chirinos). So hope he's ok.

  2. Only seen a few games, but Sale has looked better in XST, seems to have made a couple adjustments and hitting more line drives than for power, especially with two strikes. Defense is better as well, although still a work in progress.

He was in Pt Charlotte Friday afternoon, so must have made a quick trip!

  3. Let's hope he finally starts performing. He is way behind. Hope to see him promoted to Charlotte soon.
