Here are the official 2012 minor league rosters, updated via various sources the past few days, with final confirmation of the last few players from Stacy Long.

  1. Sheridan AND Wrigley at Montgomery. No Sexton. Looks like Wrigs will play some 3B.

  2. Malm AND Seitzer at BG. Hmm. They both need ABs, so it will be interesting how they get used day-to-day.

    2. Malm will be playing some COF according to conversation I had with him earlier this spring.

  3. Where's Woodall?

  4. I don't know rotations yet, except Tampa. Missing are C Alejandro Torres, C David Wendt, 3B Leonardo Reginatto, 3B Greg Sexton, OF/3B Steve Tinoco, and OF Craige Lyerly. I'm guessing all but Sexton and Tinoco are in XST and will play for HV. The catchers of course move up and down as needed, so may not really be with HV.

    1. Forgot the 'missing' pitchers: lefties Justin Woodall and TJ Geith, and righty Wilmer Almonte.

    1. Like I tweeted, the press release says he is, but the attached roster pdf doesn't list him. So I'm guessing he's not, don't know for sure. Missing Tom Gauthier already...

    2. Montgomery's press release (see their official website) doesn't mention Sheridan or Luna. My understanding is that both are on the roster.

    3. The press release I received was just a story with the roster attached as a pdf, and the roster had Sheridan and Luna. I went from the official releases when I posted this. Only one not clear is Woodall, think the article was written ahead and Woodall wasn't included on the later roster for whatever reason.

    4. Thanks, Doug. Stacy Long is reporting that Greg Sexton and David Wendt will be in Montgomery with the team but not on the active roster. Any speculation on why? Are there potentially more moves to be made that might require them to be in Montgomery on "short notice"?

    5. That's where I had them too. With the catchers it isn't unusual, they always have extras floating around. Once the short-season teams start they usually list them as being on Hudson Valley's roster but they never leave their real team. Albernaz and others have been listed for Hudson Valley more than Durham the past few years, yet they never leave Durham. It's just a way to carry another catcher for all the pitchers daily work and bullpens, plus emergencies.

Sexton is odd though, don't ever remember a 3B doing it. Might have to do with the uncertainty in TB, which might lead to a move with Durham. I'd guess Figueroa would move up since he can play 2B/SS/3B and Sexton would fill in. Have to wait and see.

  6. Steve Tinoco- phantom in Port Charlotte? Justin Woodall- not in Bowling Green? Is he a phantom?

    1. Doubt it, but also haven't heard that they were released. Easy to do in Charlotte, just leave off roster and let play XST (or GCL from June on) and they are right there if needed. Not so easy with BG.

Pitchers I wonder about: Jesse Hahn, Zach Butler, Dan Bream, and Shay Crawford.

    2. What are you thinking about Crawford, Bream,Butler and Hahn? And what about Geith?

  7. Tinoco just got in the major-league game as a late-inning guy a few days ago, unless that was a show of appreciation for his service before releasing him, he's still in the org.

  8. Tinoco was not released. He is listed as inactive with the Stonecrabs.

  9. Great information on this site. My 15 year old works with Wendt over the winter (hitting/fielding). Great guy and I hope for the best for him. Does "reserve" mean he will be moving up/down as catchers are needed?
