Cal Ripken Jr. to attend Stone Crabs opening night April 8

For the second year in a row, Cal Ripken Jr. will be on hand on Opening Day for the Charlotte Stone Crabs. The Stone Crabs begin their Florida State League South title defense on April 8th against the Palm Beach Cardinals.
Hall of Fame shortstop and Charlotte Stone Crabs co-owner Cal Ripken, Jr. will attend the Stone Crabs 2010 Opening Night on Thursday, April 8 at Charlotte Sports Park as the team begins their FSL South Division title defense against the Palm Beach Cardinals.

Tickets for the game are still currently available and will go on sale to the general public at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, March 22 at the Charlotte Sports Park box office. Ripken attended the team's inaugural game last season in front of a sellout crowd of more than 7,100 fans and threw out the ceremonial first pitch along with his brother and fellow Stone Crabs co-owner Bill Ripken.

The only way to guarantee a reserved seat for Opening Night is to purchase a Season Seat package for as low as $60 by calling 941-206-HITS.

The Stone Crabs are once again planning a variety of promotions for their opener including giveaways, pre-game player greetings at the gates and other fun highlights around the ballpark in addition to Ripken's appearance. Fans will also receive a free Stone Crabs 2010 Magnet Schedule courtesy of Pro Air Conditioning as they enter the gates.

Individual tickets for the entire 2010 Stone Crabs regular season are set to go on sale on Monday with a special event that includes free breakfast items from Chick-fil-A, phone giveaways from Metro PCS and a live remote broadcast on Kix Country 92.9 FM.
