The RaysProspects 2011 Prospect Guide

Well, here it is. You can download it (for free, of course!) here, here, or here. If any of those download links don't work, please let me know in the comments.

In the 155 pages, here's some of what you'll find:
*Write-ups of roughly 200 Rays minor-leaguers, including full pages on the top 15 hitters & pitchers
*Affiliate previews for the four full-season teams
*Predictions for the 2011 season
*An in-depth look at the best tools in the organization
*A special feature on just how good Matt Moore has been

I'd really appreciate it if you stopped by the comments section to let me know what you think of it. What you liked, what you didn't like, what we could do better next time (oh yeah, I'm already thinking about next time), pretty much anything. I love to hear from the readers.

We'll bump this to the top of the page every so often for now, and pretty soon we'll have a permanent link on the sidebar.

  11. Yup, should've checked this (http://www.raysprospects.com/2010/12/minor-moves-six-released.html) before, had both the Wiegand and Tyree Hayes news.

  13. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Just terrific.

I know it is beyond the purview of your intention, but do you have any idea how to find news about the Rays academy in Brazil and the players status there?

I believe one of them did get to the VSL last season, a fellow named Ramos I think. And I found a video of some activity at the academy narrated in Portuguese. My wife translated it a bit, but as she knows absolutely nothing about baseball, it was difficult to make much sense of it. The boys looked beyond raw.

  14. His name was Wester Ramos, a center fielder who turned 19 in January this year. His line for the season was .123/.254/.123 in 57 ABs, 7 hits (all singles) and 1 for 1 in steals. He did take 9 walks (12 Ks), and the minor league site incorrectly names his birthplace as Manilia, Brazil. It is Marilia.

  15. Robert,

If memory serves there were two Brazilians on Rays affiliates last year, Leonardo Reginatto with Princeton and Wester Ramos with the VSL Rays.

I like to try and find info on Brazil too. Here is a blog/site I subscribe to that has some coverage of Brazil and Latin American baseball:

    http://baseballlatinamerica.com/

It's in english, which helps me! You might enjoy it too. Let me know if you find any other good sites (esp. if in english).

  16. Great job on the Prospect Guide. Nick Schwaner's stats, however, are incorrect. While he did have a .280 average, he ended his 2010 career with 7 HR not just one as stated in the guide.

  17. Yup, I must've glanced at his triples total or something by mistake.

Sorry for all the mistakes, the editing process wasn't nearly as lengthy or thorough as I wish I could've made it. Glad you like it, though.
