I'm assuming he's a Durham Bull.

I was thinking Jaso/ Lobaton in Durham. Thoughts?

  2. I'm guessing Lobaton or Colina does the Durham-Hudson Valley shuffle, on and off the roster like last year. Or somebody gets cut. Sounds like a depth move for ST.

Is that move available before short season starts?

  4. That move is not necessary until the start of the MiLB season. You can have as many guys as you want in camp.

  5. That move is available between the start of full season and short season leagues.

  6. Just to clarify, I was referring to Alex Jamieson last season. You need a ton of catchers in spring training. Once the season starts Durham will still need an extra guy for non-game catching. What they did with Jamieson was "assign" him to Hudson Valley, but he never actually left Durham. If they needed him for a game or so, he was "assigned" back to Durham, and then back to HV. I lost count of how many times Jamieson went back and forth. IIRC he spent more time on HV's roster, but never appeared for them. The reason to use HV and not Montgomery is full-season teams rosters are smaller, so HV being a short-season team has the room to play with.

Could also be a gentleman's agreement, help out in ST, if you don't make Durham's roster, released to find a better gig. Only they would know about that.

  7. Here's hoping Colina is more of a Michel Hernandez than a Jamieson. Three seasons in AAA says something for him. I don't see him on the HV shuttle, but could happen since the Rays seem to be overloaded with second string catchers.

By the way -- trivia alert -- it seems that when a players is in "Hudson Valley" he wears a warm-up jacket over his uniform. When he comes back, he takes it off.
