The Bulls found themselves on the losing side of an eleven inning slugfest on Sunday. The game saw a combined 23 runs on 37 hits with 9 extra base hits. Leslie Anderson was 3 for 6 with a double. Tim Beckham had a solo home run. Henry Wrigley had a double. Dane De La Rosa was the only Bulls pitcher not to surrender a run, throwing 2 scoreless innings. Josh Lueke was the losing pitcher.



Pensacola Blue Wahoos 9, Montgomery Biscuits 2 
The Biscuits dropped the series opener against Pensacola on Sunday. Mike Sheridan was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Derek Dietrich was 2 for 5 with a double and an RBI. Marquis Fleming suffered the loss.



Charlotte Stone Crabs 5, St Lucie Mets 4
After giving up an early leady, the Stone Crabs rallied to win in walk-off fashion to sweep the Mets. Robby Price was 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored. Luke Scott was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI. Kevin Kiermaier was 2 for 3 with an RBI. Cody Rogers was 2 for 5 with a double. Steven Tinoco had two hits. Albert Suarez pitched 5 scoreless innings. Matt Nevarez pitched 1 1/3 no-hit innings with 2 strikeouts for the win.



South Bend Silver Hawks 6, Bowling Green Hot Rods 5
The Hot Rods rallied from an early deficit to tie the game, but a late inning homer by they Silver Hawks would be the deciding factor as they Hot Rods lost their second consecutive game to South Bend. Matt Rice finished a home run shy of the cycle by going 4 for 5 with a double and a triple. Drew Vettleson was 3 for 5 with 2 double, a home run and 2 RBI’s. Jake Hager had a double and a home run. Ryan Brett and Jeff Malm each had two hits. Jacob Partridge suffered the loss.



Hudson Valley Renegades 2, Lowell Spinners 1
The Renegades found themselves on the winning side of a pitching duel on Sunday. Ryan Dunn was 2 for 4. Thomas Coyle and Richie Shaffer drove home a run each. Starter Sean Bierman led the way, pitching 7 strong innings to earn the win. Jordan Harrison notched the save.



Princeton Rays 10, Johnson City Cardinals 2
The P-Rays avoided the sweep following a big win over the Cardinals in Sunday’s series finale. John Alexander was 3 for 5 with a double and 2 RBI’s. Ariel Soriano was 2 for 5 with a double, home run, 3 RBI’s and 2 stolen bases. William Argo had a double and an RBI. Eli Echarry pitched 5 scoreless inning to record the win.

Henry Wrigley was 2 for 5 with an RBI. Brooks Conrad had a solo homer. Stephen Vogt had a double. Josh Lueke was the losing pitcher. Adam Liberatore struck out 5 in 2 1/3 innings.



Huntsville Stars 6, Montgomery Biscuits 5 (10 innings)
The Biscuits gave up their lead only to lose to the Stars in extra innings. Mark Thomas was 3 for 5 with a double and 3 RBI’s. Derek Dietrich had a double. Brett Nommensen drove home a run. Neil Schenk suffered the loss.



Charlotte Stone Crabs 9, St Lucie Mets 8
The Stone Crabs won on Saturday night in walk-off fashion as they scored twice in the home half of the ninth to win their second straight over the Mets. Luke Bailey was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles, a home run and 4 RBI’s. Steven Tinoco was 3 or 5 with a double and scored the game winning run. Robby Price was 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Riccio Torrez also had two double. Lenny Linsky was the winner for the Stone Crabs.



South Bend Silver Hawks 11, Bowling Green Hot Rods 10
The Silver Hawks offense used a ten run sixth inning to help beat the Hot Rods on Saturday night. Drew Vettleson was 4 for 5 with a home run and 4 RBI’s. Tyler Goeddel was 3 for 5 with a double and an RBI. Jake Hager was 3 for 5. Jeff Malm, Ryan Brett and Juniel Querecuto each had a double. Roberto Gomez pitched 3 shut-out innings. Charlie Cononie suffered the loss.



Hudson Valley Renegades 6, Lowell Spinners 5
The Renegades got a taste of baseball legacy as they faced off against the Spinners at Fenway Park for the 2012 Futures at Fenway Game in which the Renegades held of a bottom of the ninth rally to win by a run. Jake DePew was a perfect 4 for 4 with a home run and 3 RBI’s. Ryan Dunn was 2 for 2 with a double and a RBI. Joel Caminero had a double. Jeff Ames picked up the win to improve to 4-0 after throwing 3 shut-out innings.



Johnson City Cardinals 9, Princeton Rays 8 
The P-Rays lost their lead in the bottom of the ninth to lose their third straight game against the Cardinals. John Alexander was 3 for 5 with a double. Omar Narvaez was 3 for 5 with an RBI. Oscar Hernandez and Brandon Martin each had a home run. Reid Redman had a double. Nick Sawyer was charged with the loss.



GCL Rays 2, GCL Orioles 2 (Suspended)
Saturday’s Rays/Orioles game in Sarasota was suspended after rain in the sixth inning. Play was halted with game tied 2-2. Yoel Araujo had a double. Spencer Edwards and Bralin Jackson drove home the Rays runs. Luis Cabrera pitched 3 shut-out innings.



DSL Rays 5, DSL Astros 5
The Rays held off a late charge by the Astros to win 5-3 on Saturday. Ismael Aguero had a home run. Rolman Ramirez had a triple. Eric Maria and Alexander each had a double. Junior Feliz pitched 3 perfect frames. Ariel Gracia earned the win and Ruben Paredes the save.

The Bulls gave up a pair of runs late to lose to the Clippers on Friday night. Leslie Anderson was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Brooks Conrad was 2 for 4 with an RBI. Tim Beckham had a solo home run. Chris Gimenez had a double. Brandon Gomes suffered the loss.



Huntsville Stars 9, Montgomery Biscuits 8
The Biscuits and Stars exchanged a pair of six run innings and two run innings but it was the lone one run inning that would be the difference as the Biscuits fell on Friday. Kyeong Kang was 3 for 5 with a double and an RBI. Derek Dietrich, Mike Sheridan, Brad Coon and Mark Thomas each had a two hit night. Shawn O’Malley had a triple. Shane Dyer threw 5 shut-out innings. Marquis Fleming suffered the loss.



Charlotte Stone Crabs 6, St. Lucie Mets 5 The Stone Crabs put up a four run seventh inning to overcome the Mets for a big Friday night win. Todd Glaesmann was 2 for 4 with a double, home run and 2 RBI’s. Luke Scott was 2 for 4 with a home run and 3 RBI’s. Alejandro Torres was 2 for 3 with a double. Alex Koronis was awarded the win and Matt Neveraz pitched 2 not-hit innings with 5 strikeouts for the save.



Bowling Green Hot Rods 2, Great Lakes Loons 1
The Hot Rods swept the Loons following a 2-1 win in the series finale. Juniel Querecuto and Ryan Brett each had a double. Jake Hager and Tyler Goeddel picked up the RBI’s. Justin Woodall pitched 2 no-hit innings for the win. Austin Hubbard recorded the save.



Connecticut Tigers 5, Hudson Valley Renegades 3
The Renegades had to settle for series win as they were unable to record the sweep after losing the series finale against the Tigers. Jake DePew was 2 for 4 with a double. Thomas Coyle was 2 for 3 with a double. Joey Rickard was 2 for 5 with a double and an RBI. Matt Spann was charged with the loss.



Johnson City Cardinals 10, Princeton Rays 9
The Princeton Rays surrendered six runs in the final inning of play to lose game one of Friday’s doubleheader. Andrew Toles was 3 for 4 with a home run and 4 RBI’s. William Argo was 3 for 4 with a double. Reid Redman was 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and an RBI. Brandon Martin had a two run homer. Ariel Soriano had a double. Jonathan Weaver was the losing pitcher.

The P-Rays watched an early lead slip away as they dropped the second game of the doubleheader against the Cardinals. Andrew Toles was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI. William Argo was also 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Ismel Antunez recorded a double. Omar Narvaez had two RBI’s. Hugo Duarte was the losing pitcher.



GCL Rays 6, GCL Orioles 1
The GCL Rays won their third straight game by beating the Orioles on Friday afternoon. Bralin Jackson was 2 for 4 with a triple and 2 RBI’s. Isaias Velasquez was 2 for 4 with a double and 2 stolen bases. Armando Araiza and Cesar Perez each had an RBI. Isaac GIl pitched 5 shut-out innings for the win.



DSL Rays 7, DSL Astros 3
The DSL Rays downed the Astros on Friday afternoon. Alexander Simon was a single shy of the cycle while driving home 6 runs. Bill Pujols was 2 for 3 with a double. Roquely Ortiz was the winning pitcher.

Dixon Suspended for Drug Violation

Renegades outfielder Deshun Dixon has been suspended for 50 games violating the MLB drug policy. This was Dixon's second violation of the policy.

Dixon was drafted by the Rays in the tenth round of the 2010 draft.

The Bulls struggled to score runs as they fell to the Clippers. Will Rhymes was 2 for 3. Brooks Conrad was 2 for 4 with an RBI. Stephen Vogt had a double. Lance Pendleton suffered the loss. Ryan Reid pitched 2 shut-out innings.



Montgomery Biscuits 4, Huntsville Stars 3 (10 innings) 
The Biscuits won their fifth straight game following an extra innings win over the Stars. Ty Morrison was 2 for 5 with 2 runs scored. Omar Luna was 2 for 5 with an RBI. Mike Mahtook was 2 for 4 with an RBI. Mayo Acosta had a solo home run. Kyeong Kang had a double. Chris Rearick earned the win and Kirby Yates the save.



Bradenton Marauders 5, Charlotte Stone Crabs 4 
The Stone Crabs drop the series finale against the Marauders 5-4. Robby Price was 2 for 4 with a double. Todd Glaesmann had a two run homer. Hector Guevara also had a two run homer. Cody Roger stole three bases. George Jensen suffered the loss.



Bowling Green Hot Rods 6, Great Lakes Loons 2
The Hot Rods won their third consecutive game after beating the Loons on Thursday. Jake Hager was 2 for 3 with a double. Cameron Seitzer had a home run and 2 RBI’s. Ryan Brett had a double and a stolen base. Parker Markel was the winner. Shay Crawford had a no-hit inning, striking out all three hitters faced.



Hudson Valley Renegades 8, Connecticut Tigers 3
The Renegades offense was hot on Thursday night as they defeated the Tigers. Joey Rickard was 3 for 5 with a double and 2 RBI’s. Richie Shaffer was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 RBI’s. Luke Maile was 2 for 4 with a homer. Justin O’Conner had a triple. Jesse Hahn recorded the win for the Renegades.



Princeton Rays 5, Burlington Royals 4
The P-Rays avoided the sweep by winning the series finale against the Royals. Brandon Martin was 3 for 5 with 2 home runs and 3 RBI’s. Reid Redman and William Argo were both 2 for 5. John Alexander was 2 for 4. Ariel Soriano had a double. Randy Davis earned the win and Nick Sawyer the save.



GCL Rays 3, GCL Twin 2
A change of venues but the end result is the same as the GCL Rays beat the Twins 3-2 for the second consecutive day. Yoel Araujo was 2 for 3 with a double. Jiminson Natera was 2 for 3. Leopoldo Correa was 2 for 4. Geisel De La Cruz pitched 5 scoreless innings with 5 strikeouts. Jason Wilson earned the win.



DSL Rays 4, DSL Indians 3
The DSL Rays edged the Indians on Thursday. Alexander Simon was 3 for 4 with 2 RBI’s. Julio Herrera was 2 for 5 with a double. Joselito Cano picked up the win and Nelson Arguila the save.

The Bulls used a seven run inning to defeat the Clippers on Wednesday night. Chris Gimenez was 2 for with 2 home runs and 5 RBI’s. Rich Thompson was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Henry Wrigley, Stephen Vogt and Cole Figeroa each had a double. Josh Lueke picked up the win and Dane De La Rosa the save.



Montgomery Biscuits 9, Huntsville Stars 6
The Biscuits scored six runs in the first inning and never looked back as they beat the Stars. Omar Luna was 3 for 4. Derek Dietrich was 2 for 4 with an RBI. Brett Nommensen had a grand slam in the first inning. Mark Thomas had a solo homer. Shawn O’Malley stole two bases. Kyle Lobstein was the winning pitcher. CJ Riefenhauser pitched 3 shut-out innings.



Charlotte Stone Crabs 6, Bradenton Marauders 3 (10 innings)
The Stone Crabs used a big hit by Phil Wunderlich to beat the Marauders in extra innings. Wunderlich delivered a game winning three run homer in the top of the tenth. Todd Glaesmann was 2 for 4 with a solo home run. Luke Bailey was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. Braulio Lara pitched 5 innings and did not allow an earned run. Jimmy Patterson was the winning pitcher with 3 shut-out innings pitched.



Bowling Green Hot Rods 4, Great Lakes Loons 1
The Hot Rods opened the series against the Loons with a win. Josh Sale was 2 for 3 with a solo home run and 3 RBI’s. Taylor Motter was 2 for 3. Juniel Querecuto had an RBI. Trevor Shull was the winning pitcher and Austin Hubbard notched the save.



Hudson Valley Renegades 2, Connecticut Tigers 0
The Renegades shut-out the Tigers in their first game back from the all-star break. Richie Shaffer was 3 for 4 with an RBI. Mike Williams was 2 for 4. Eduar Quinonez pitched 5 shut-out innings with 5 strikeouts to earn his sixth win of the season. Ryan Garton recorded the save.



Burlington Royals 2, Princeton Rays 0 
The P-Rays were on the losing side of a pitching duel as they were shut-out 2-0. James Harris and Reid Redman each had a double. Kevin Brandt pitched 5 no-hit innings with 8 strikeouts but walked away with a no-decision. Alex Keudell suffered the loss.



GCL Rays 3, GCL Twins 2
The GCL Rays picked up a road win against the Twins on Wednesday. Armando Araiza was 3 for 4 with an RBI. Yoel Araujo was 2 for 4 with a double, triple and RBI. Adderly Rosa was 2 for 4. Alex Torres pitched 3 shut-out innings with 4 strikeouts. Alex Moshier picked up the win.



DSL Rays 2, DSL Indians 1
The DSL Rays edged the Indians for a slim one run win. Bill Pujols had a double and an RBI. Wilmer Hernandez recorded the win and Ruben Parades the save.

The Bulls stopped their recent losing streak with a Tuesday night win over the Clippers. Leslie Anderson was 3 for 4. Stephen Vogt was 2 for 4 with a triple and an RBI. Brooks Conrad was 2 for 3 with a double and 2 RBI’s. Reid Brignac had a triple and 2 RBI’s. Matt Torra picked up the win, his seventh in a row.



Montgomery Biscuits 4, Huntsville Stars 1
The Biscuits won their third straight game after defeating the Stars I the series opener. Omar Luna had a solo home run. Brett Nommenesn, Derek Dietrich and Mark Thomas each had a double. Merrill Kelly pitched 5 shut-out innings for the win. Kirby Yates picked up the save.



 Bradenton Marauders 5, Charlotte Stone Crabs 4 
The Stone Crabs gave up the decisive go-ahead run late in the game as they fell to the Marauders in the series opener on Tuesday. Luke Scott was 2 for 4 with a two-run homer. Phil Wunderlich was 2 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI’s. Todd Glaesmann was 2 for 4 with a double. Kevin Kiermaier had a triple. Jeff Niemann pitched 3 1/3 innings. Matt Nevarez pitched 2 2/3 no-hit innings with 4 strikeouts. TJ Geith suffered the loss.



Burlington Royals 8, Princeton Rays 2
The P-Rays dropped the series opener against the Royals. Oscar Hernandez was 2 for 3 with a double. Ismel Antunez was 2 for 4. Ariel Soriano had a triple and an RBI. Omar Narvaez had a double. Eli Echarry suffered the loss. Dan Bream provided a scoreless inning of relief. Pedro Silvestre pitched a no-hit 2/3 inning.



GCL Red Sox 7, GCL Rays 5 
The GCL Rays lost a night game to the GCL Red Sox on Tuesday night. Jiminson Natera was 2 for 5 with a double. Ben Kline was 2 for 5 with an RBI. Spencer Edwards was 2 for 5. Bralin Jackson, Doug Duran and Clayton Henning each had an RBI. Carlos Cedeno suffered the loss.



DSL Dodgers 7, DSL Rays 5
Alexander Simon was 3 for 4 with a triple, home run and 4 RBI’s. Cristian Toribio was 2 for 5 with a double. Enmanuel Paulino was 2 for 5 with a double and an RBI. Jose Alonzo was charged with the loss. Carlos Garcia pitched 3 no-hit innings and Rafael Cordova had 2 shut-out innings.

Toledo Mud Hens 7, Durham Bulls 5
The Bulls watched their five run lead disappear as they were swept by the Mud Hens following Monday’s loss. Leslie Anderson was 2 for 4 with an RBI. Chris Gimenez drove home two runs. Nevin Ashley had a home run. Tim Beckham had a double. Ryan Reid was charged with a blown save and the loss.


Bowling Green Hot Rods 10, West Michigan White Caps 4
The Hot Rods picked up a big win over the White Caps to wrap up the series with a win on Monday. Cameron Seitzer was 2 for 4 with 2 double and 2 RBI’s. Jeff Malm was 2 for 5 with 2 doubles. Jake Hager was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI’s. Tyler Goeddel had a double. Ryan Carpenter picked up the win and improved to 11-6 on the season.


GCL Rays 7, GCL Red Sox 3
The GCL Rays won a rain shortened game against the Red Sox on Monday afternoon. Every Rays hitter reached base atleast once in the game. Bralin Jackson was 2 for 4 with a triple and a RBI. Armando Araiza was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Ben Kline was 2 for 4. Yoel Araujo and Leopoldo each had a double. Spencer Edwards had three stolen bases. Jordan Harrison pitched 3 scoreless innings. Matt Ramsey was the winning pitcher for the Rays.


DSL Dodgers 11, DSL Rays 4
Ismael Aguero had a double. Roberto Adolfo also had a double. Jhancarlos Infante drove home two runs. Junior Feliz suffered the loss.

Yates Named Southern League Player of the Week

Biscuits reliever Kirby Yates was named the Southern League Pitcher of the Week for the week ending on August 12. Yates provided six scoreless innings from the bullpen spanning four appearances while striking out 13 hitters in the process. He hasn’t allowed an earned run in his last seven outings dating back to July 25. Yates is now 3-2 on the season with a 2.32 ERA, 13 saves and 83 strikeouts in 44 games this season.

Yates is in his fourth season with the Rays organization. He was signed by the Rays as a non-drafted free agent in June of 2009.
