2012 Year in Review: Charlotte Stone Crabs (Overall)

Over the next few weeks I will recap the 2011 season of each affiliate. This week will focus on the overall season, next week will cover the hitting leaders and the final week will be pitching leaders. Like the week in reviews earlier in the season, each day will bring attention to a different affiliate as we work our way through the franchise. Today we take a look at the overall team stats of the Charlotte Stone Crabs.

Giving up more runs then you can produce is a recipe for disaster, one that plagued the Stone Crabs all season long as they endured their worst season in franchise history. The Stone Crabs finished the year in the basement of the Florida State League with a 55-79 overall record. The Stone Crabs hosted the 2012 Florida State League All-Star Game at Charlotte Sports Park. Derek Dietrich, Mikie Mahtook, Chris Rearick and CJ Riefenhauser represented the Stone Crabs in the All-Star Game. The Stone Crabs were also a part of Florida State League history as Palm Beach’s Chris Corrigan tossed a perfect game against the Stone Crabs on 8/29, the first perfect game in the FSL since 2001.
